Right in Geira Romana - the military roman road that connected Bracara Augusta (Braga) to Asturica Augusta (Astorga) - mile XXVIII, Parque de Cerdeira is situated in a place with an all valuable patrimony to protect, not only faunistical - it's the kingdom of the roebuck, the recovered wild boar, the weasel, the badger, the wolf and the 'garrano' (an autochthonous horse); but also floristical - the 'alvarinho' oak, the yew, the white birch, the cork oak, the negral oak and also the native fern of 'Gerês', the royal fern, the lily (the Iris Boissieri). The 'Albergaria', 'Matança' and 'Cabril' forests, the royal eagle, an almost extinguished species, or the always remembered village of Vilarinho da Furna, forever submerged in the name of progress, on the dam's lagoon named after the village.

We are proud of our natural beauties, the mountainous hospitality that has no need to prove anything to anyone, the cultural riches that insists on protecting its own architectonical landscape and environmental values. We want to eternalize that ancient communitarian way of life made of ritual and testimonies, preserve, and make use of it in a mutual and desirable enrichment. Parque de Cerdeira, wants to bring our attention to a little of that almost forgotten world: in the rendering services, the hosting way, the recovering of some gastronomical traditions: the chestnuts roasting, the pig butchering, the husking; Sport entertainment: walking and equestrian tracks; mountaineering, orienteering, canoeing and fishing; infrastructures: the use of the noble materials from the region: granite and wood, giving to all the campsite area a genuine ancient times look, as if the time has turned back...
